East & South East Cyclo-Cross Championships

9th December 2012 - Bethlem Royal Hospital

Promoted by VC Londres

The Day started out as a fairly cold but not too cold December’s day, certainly not as cold as it has been lately.  It’s been a while since I went out photographing a bike race and my first experience of a Cyclo-Cross race.

I get to the venue with 30 minutes or so to spare, nice to see all the kids getting excited and nervously waiting for the start.  Great to see so many getting into the sport and racing.

The first race gets going on time at 11:00hrs, get some shots of the start line and move on around the track to find an interesting spot for some images.  First stop was a pair of nasty wet looking logs across the track to negotiate.  I was surprised to see how quickly these kids were negotiating this obstacle, I know full well had I been doing it I'd have tripped and fallen :-s

By the time I had decided to move onto the next spot the kids had finished and the rather than dragging myself and all my equipment to the start line I stayed in the woods waiting for the next race, the under 12’s.  Again surprised at the commitment these young kids were showing when attacking obstacles I used to be put off by.

After the kids race was biggest for different categories, Junior Men, Vet 40-49, Vet 50+ and Women.  All these people racing at once meant for many photo opportunities and possible missed opportunities.  I didn’t want to stay in the woods (a decision I may come to regret later..) and get the same shots for this race so venture out into the field to change my perspective.  After all the races and practice laps combined with the recent weather we’ve experienced the track had become quite muddy.  I placed myself at the top of an incline which was probably the biggest thing you could call a hill for today’s course and snapped away.

After this race and a little bit of moving around on the open field and not being able to feel my toes I decide it’s time to try and get a bit of shelter.  This is when I found a spot that gave some of the best pictures of the day with a great spot (see below).

ooopppss

For the final race of the day, Senior Men, I move around between the field and the woods again.  Now please go have a look at the rest of the images in the gallery for the day CLICK HERE.

Brighton Big Dog 2012 Highlights

Brighton Big Dog 2012 from moranphotography on Vimeo.

A slideshow of images taken at the Brighton Big Dog event this year in Falmer, just outside Brighton.

I have been to the race three years running now and year on year I have to say it is probably one of the friendliest races I have ever been to.  There is a great vibe there, every one is just there to have fun.  Sure there are the serious racers pushing for a podium but they seem politer and more curtious than any other event I have been to and long may it stay that way.

The Morvelo guys do a great job of organising this event.

Well for this wedding I travelled to Brecon, South Wales.  The ceremony and reception were both hels at a lovely venue right in the heart of the Brecon Beacons called The Barn at Brynich.  Ceri and Chris (Ed to his friends) made a lovely, happy Bride and Groom and had a lovely wedding day.  It was great fun to shoot their wedding.

Wonder if the next wedding I cover will be nearer to me? :-)

I had the great pleasure of shooting the wedding day for Mr and Mrs Lightfoot last year.  I travelled up to Warrington, Cheshire for the wedding of the happy couple.

They were fortunate enough to have booked the Town Hall of Warrington for their wedding service.  It was a lovely day weatherwise aswell.  All in all a lovely day.

Were back...

Well after a few months of not being online Moranphotography is back.

I chose to take the site down due to coming to the end of my hosting, I decided it was a good time for me to take the opportunity to look around at other providers/options open to me.  Due to my distinct lack of coding knowledge I quickly decided a template based system would be best for me.  I wanted a provider where my clients/customers can order images and downloads from my site rather than requesting a specific image via email or my contact page which is can become a lengthy process if I am not available for what ever reason.  Now however clients can order images of various sizes directly to their door, I even now offer a download facility for some images.

Returning visitors may now also have noticed a change of logo and branding around the site.  I felt it was time to lose the old logo, not that there was ever anything wrong with the logo but I just wanted something new myself, I kept it nice and simple and I hope classic and contemporary.

Well thats enough of me waffling on, go and look around the site, if you think of anything that might be missing let me know and see if I can the function online :-)
